Mumbai women’s cricket team welcomed the New
Year on a positive note when they thrashed Saurashtra by 60 runs in the opening
T20 match of the senior women’s T20 tournament which was played in Lucknow
today. Mumbai put on board 122-3, thanks to the efforts of Mumbai skipper
Sunetra Paranjape (38), Jemimah Rodrigues (36*) and Humaira Kazi (22*). In response,
Saurashtra could manage a paltry 62 as Mumbai bowlers were too good to handle. First
with the bat and then with the ball, Humaira Kazi picked up 3-14 in her four
overs. Mumbai will play its next match against Tripura on 3rd
January.
